Our story
Riverland Church is a life-giving church launching in Brisbane with a heart to see people encounter Jesus and grow in a life-changing relationship with God. We believe God is building something significant in our city: not just a church service, but a movement of hope that reaches across generations.

The Power of God
We believe in the necessity of the power of God at work amongst his people for us to become more like Jesus. Through His Spirit and Word, we value Gods power moving amongst us.
The Community of Faith
We believe life change happens in authentic Christian community. We need others to be whole and to grow in our relationship with God. We are committed to building a strong, faith-filled community where people are known, supported, and encouraged.
The Mission of Christ
We exist to carry the message of Jesus into our city and beyond. Each person has a role to play in God’s Great Commission. We are committed to reaching people, making disciples, and living on mission in everyday life.
The people you'll meet on a Sunday
These are the people who lead, teach and look after Riverland week to week. Come and say hello. We'd love to meet you.
John leads Riverland Church alongside Gillian. He has spent over 30 years in full time ministry, including 20 years as a lead pastor. He sets the direction of the church, teaches on Sundays, and leads the staff team.
Gillian leads Riverland Church alongside John. She has spent over 30 years in full time ministry and is the author of The Leader’s Table. She teaches on Sundays and oversees the development of leaders across the church.
Patrick looks after the day to day running of Riverland. He oversees staff, operations, finance and communications, and works with John and Gillian to turn the direction of the church into a plan the team can run.
Lizmari leads our Life Groups and looks after our people. She connects new people into groups, supports and trains our Life Group leaders, and follows up anyone looking to find community at Riverland.
Noah leads worship at Riverland. He plans our Sunday services, builds and trains the worship and production teams, and oversees the music and creative side of the church.
Berni leads Riverland Kids. She runs the Sunday programs across every age group, recruits and trains the kids team, and looks after check in and child safety.
Marge helps people take their next step at Riverland. She runs Discover each month and helps people work out where they fit on the team.
Our beliefs
The Bible
We believe the Bible is the inspired and authoritative Word of God. Through it, God reveals Himself and speaks powerfully into our lives today.
God
We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He lived a sinless life, died for our sins, and rose again, offering salvation and transformation to all who believe.
The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit empowers believers, transforms lives, builds the Church, and releases the power of God in and through us.
Salvation
We believe salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. It is a free giftfrom God and leads to a transformed life.
The Church
We believe the Church is the community of faith, the body of Christ on earth, called to worship God, build one another up, and advance the mission of Christ.
Baptism
We believe in water baptism by immersion as a public declaration of faith in Jesus Christ.
Eternity
We believe in eternal life for those who trust in Christ.
